Netherlands 1945 10 Guilder Lieftinck tenner Banknote Fine

75,00

A note that has been in circulation for a long time and may have several heavier folds. There may be small cracks in the edges and there may be a small hole in it. The paper is often weak and oxidized.

The name of the Dutch former Minister of Finance Piet Lieftinck is still known to many people because of Lieftinck's tenner.

Just after the Second World War, on September 26, 1945, all Dutch people received ten guilders during the major money purge that Lieftinck initiated. During the week in which all old banknotes and coins had to be handed in - and then exchanged for new money - people had to survive on these ten guilders.
