The list of Dutch painters on stamps (see the register of the NVPH catalogue) is now quite extensive, including Appel, Van Gogh, Hals, Mondriaan, Ruisdael and Steen, who had the honor of being commemorated on stamps. It will come as no surprise to anyone that the 17th century is by far the best represented: both due to the number of artists and the quality of the work of many of them, this period is the pinnacle of Dutch painting.
